As a Grade 8 student, having social media accounts benefits me in so many ways. It is where I get the latest news on what's happening to the world and that's very important especially for AP when we have 'balita.' Second, It is where I can keep in touch with people far away from where I live. Lastly, It is where I can get access to information that you may not get it books.
It can harm us as well, ln instance, When you see your favorite celebrity post a selfie online you get insecure because she is "prettier" or "skinnier." as simple as that can make your self-esteem go down. The internet shows us responsiblity because if you post something that is against someone you are automatically the first one to blame. It can affect me as a daughter because if my parents are far away I can easily contact them, As a friend I can effortlessly catch up with them and as a student you can update your classmates especially when they missed something very important for school.
All in all, Social Media has advantages and disadvantages. If you are fully aware on the causes and effects of your actions on social media then you can overcome those obstacles.

Social Media has affected people's lives, whether positive or negative. The internet helped me to understand more about how one can damage people's lives by just clicking the post or send button. It helped me with communication, studies and it entertained me. I have never experienced being cyber-bullied, but obviously it affects the victims whole life. The internet can harm you and help you. We don't and can't control people, so we have to be careful and always ask for help. Cyber-bullying is not a joke, people can commit suicide, self-harm etc. So we have to be careful of what we post and send. People's post / status can influence you, so use only age appropriate sites.
Social media can either help you socialize or be anti-social. It can help you socialize by communicating with people online, by chatting with them, getting to know them and being good friends. Another thing is that when you have family gatherings, you can be always on your phone and it won't help you have that special bond with your family and communicate. And that is a bad thing, we should learn how to control when and where we use our gadgets. It can also help us be responsible and mindful on what to post. It helped me as a daughter so I can also help us be responsible and mindful on what to post. As a friend I should be trust worthy and loyal because for example, she/he told a secret to you and as for yourself you shouldn't post it. As a student it helped me to communicate with my classmates and ask for help. It also helped me communicate with my teacher if ever i have a question / project.

I have benefited so much from social media. I have learned the essence of communication online, being aware of news and updates, researching that has helped me in certain school projects and so much more. Coming from its bad side, it has also taught me a lot. I have been a victim of Cyberbullying and it has made me aim to be more aware and to be cautious of my actions online and in the real world.
But everything has a negative effect, although I have explored so much, social media has made me less active in the real world. I have somehow lost interest in escaping the walls of my room for I am too scared of how I won’t see the latest trends and updates. How ironic it is for my social media presence to be far more superior than my physical presence. Online, I am a real person and alive. Offline, I tend to be bored with doing outdoor activities. But somehow I tend to be better and realistic with the help of my mistakes. Right now I am more social with people and limit my time using the internet.

As a Grade 8 student, social media benefits me in communication, knowledge, and just for fun. I can communicate with friends. Through the Internet, I can talk to people I have never met before, even if it's just through one message. I can catch up on the latest announcements, whether it be about my favourite artist or a suspension of classes. I am able to learn things that you can't find in a regular textbook online, like random facts or things you need to pack before moving into a dorm. For fun, I can listen to music or read and laugh at relatable posts online. However, it also harms me because it can be a distraction. For example, if my phone is beside me when I study, most of the time, notifications pop up and I am conflicted on whether to reply to a message or continue doing my homework. Social media teaches me social responsibility. This is because I get to think on if what I post is good or if it is bad. Unfortunately though, a lot of content which aren't meant for younger people aren't censored. Because of this, I sometimes accidentally look at things which aren't meant to be seen. My social media presence doesn't really affect me as a daughter, but it affects me as a friend in a good way because I can communicate with my friends even if I'm not face to face with them. As a student, it affects me because as I said earlier, it can be a distraction because sometimes, when I'm studying, I can be thinking of a new theme for my Instagram feed or thinking of the latest updates in my fandom. Because of this, my attention is drawn away from what I am supposed to be studying. In conclusion, social media has different uses and can teach a lot of things, good or bad. *bow* This is such a practical and informative post. I can relate and benefit from it! Great Job Cheska!

As a Grade 8 MCMS student, social media benefits me in communication, arts, knowledge, self confidence and discipline but social media has disadvantages for me such as inappropriate sites show for fame, cyberbullying and it is a distraction against studying. Social media teaches me social responsibility through its' advantages and disadvantages but when it comes to being socially insensitive, the media has no security in posting inappropriate pictures and censoring for bad words which almost influencing me into being irresponsible. As a daughter and a friend, it influences me into posting bad posts although in a positive way, it helps me in communicating with everyone i know. It affects me as a student when there are strangers trying to stalk me, when there are ads that are lies in he media and it is a big distraction in other sites. Although it helps me in finding information i need for my studies, and helps me in individual and group projects. My friends and family are also affected by the positive and negative effects of social media but they also go to internet games which make them even more distracted until they lose track of time. I will create one in the future but I know my responsibilities, so I will use it in the future but i will only use it when needed or when i have free time. Therefore, i will limit my time in using the internet in a few minutes and go straight to my homeworks and chores. Social media or the internet may have its' up and downs but it should me appreciated and developed in the future because if not, we won't be able to have communication and knowledge. Even though we can do these things with the use of books and sessions with teachers, we wouldn't have went this far without social media. Love the choice of words and the content! Great Work Kate!

As a grade 8 student social media affects my life greatly, it can distract me from doing my schoolwork. Right now I just checked my phone to see I had a notification and yes I replied to the person, distraction. There's also benefits on social media accounts, without the app "Messenger" how am I gonna contact all my friends? How will I know my homework when I'm absent? Sure texting someone can be easy but not for someone who has no load. Would I really go outside and buy load? When I can just open an app and ask for the homework? Truthfully it can teach me to be more socially insensitive, because I can say something like "Ew that's gross" but that person could have enjoyed whatever they were doing. I could have hurt their feelings without knowing it and they can simply hide it by replying with "Haha".
Social media affects me a lot as a daughter. My mom would always be on her phone talking to her friends, replying to her friends and same with my family. We would be eating and she would open Messenger to reply to her friend, but I do that sometimes. While were talking and I get a mention I open my phone and reply to my friend. I reply with a blank mind, forgetting my mom is talking. This goes back to "socially insensitive" I could have been hurting my moms feelings and I wouldn't know.My friends and I always talk on social media and we get closer and closer mostly everyday. Without social media I couldn't see all their embarrassing baby photos when their mom posts them on Facebook. Social media affects me as a student. There's always cons and pros on using social media.

Having social media affects my life by distraction. Sometimes, a lot of notifications pop out in my phone during weekdays, and it is a major distraction for my studies during weekdays. It benefits me more than it harms me because it is easier for me to communicate with classmates and its very helpful especially when there are group works need to be done or just home works. Social media teaches me more to be responsible socially because sometimes, when i forget to ask something to the teacher about things in school, i tend to ask it through social media, so it teaches me to be more responsible and to be less forgetful. My social media presence affects me as a daughter like its easier for me to connect and communicate with me mom since she is working far away. As a friend, it affects me by keeping in touch with them like i can still talk to them and keep close through social media. Lastly, my social media presence affects me as a student like sometimes i spend more time on social media than studying during weekends, so i kinda need to lessen the use of social media and more into studying. I relate to you spiritually :DD

As a grade 8 student, having social media affects our world greatly in this modern time. Having social media enables me to fill the gap between me and my family/friends who are far away. Through the internet, i am able to catch up with latest news or announcements both internationally and locally. With the advancement of technology today, we can use the internet as a tool for learning, being Edmodo as an example. The internet is also a great source of entertainment. However, the internet also has it's disadvantages; people these days use social media, or simply the internet more than they should. Using the internet too much isolates us from the real world, it separates us from our friends or family. Not only this, but as a student, social media tends to distract us, especially when doing school work. We are always tempted to look at our phones and browse through numerous social media sites; and by the end of the day, we don't get to do any of our school work.
Social media teaches responsibility. Whenever we post anything on the internet, we think about the consequences that could happen if one misunderstands what we post; we think about the people who would be affected by what we post or say online. In addition, we learn to be responsible through the pictures or words you post, and the sites you visit. My social media presence affect me me as a daughter, friend and as a student. It affects me as a daughter because using social media sites enables me to communicate with my family and relatives that are abroad. It affects me the same way as a friend; social media allows me to communicate with my friends. Lastly, as a student, social media affects me quite greatly. Using the internet helps me to broaden my knowledge through the information found online. I am also able to learn about different events and news around the globe. But, as i have mentioned, it also a source of distraction that prevents me from doing school work.
In conclusion, social media has it's advantages and disadvantages. By using the internet responsibly and wisely, we can be able to prevent these disadvantages.

Social media is a decision that has its ups and downs, just like any other choice. I personally think that some sites are beneficial while others are not. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube are beneficial to me simply because they provide information about news, friends, and more. An example of what I think is not a beneficial site is ask.fm. I believe so because of the following points: a) What benefit would you get from answering questions sent anonymously? b) Why would you risk the chance of getting hate because of the anonymous button? c) Why do you need or want an account in that website anyway? In a way though, you learn to be socially sensitive because through social media, you connect.
However, I also feel that social media is a big distraction from reality. It really depends on how much time you allocate to using your accounts, but sometimes, we lose track of time and slowly, reality is slipping away. That's how I think social media affects my friends, family and I. I would try to create social media in the future but it would have certain components that would help you to not be so distracted by it such as a time limit, etc. There are positive and negative effects of these sites, although if you can be a responsible user, then the negatives won't affect you as much and you will have an enjoyable and safe experience.

As a Grade 8 student, social media's impact on us is really wide and vast. It really affects our lives with regard to a lot of stuff and, there are always times when it gets out of hand. Yes, it does benefit us in terms of communication, sharing, and the like, but in actuality it may be harming us because of the "freedom" we think we have. Social media makes us both responsible and insensitive. We tend to be insensitive because like what I said, the "freedom" from reality, like, how you can keep your accounts private and not tell your parents about what you tweet, and many more. After this though, we realize how much we actually leave on this world and how we really need to be mindful and responsible on posting. EVERYTHING you do on the Internet is on there and will stay on there whether it's deleted or not because you always have possible witnesses, and with that, it may affect you in ways you never expected.
Social media affects me in terms of being a daughter because it serves as a distraction during the times when we could be bonding with our family. Concerning being a student, of course being responsible with whatever content we put online and for communication most of all. Lastly, in regard to being a friend, social media really opens our eyes on who our real friends are, through all the rumors that could easily be spread online.
